2020 Candidates Joining Universities, Colleges and TVET institutions HELB Loan Application Process,check out the requirements

The Higher Education Loan Board (HELB) is a government sponsored program that financially support vulnerable students who can’t afford higher education expenses. Students joining Universities, Colleges and TVET institutions are eligible to apply.




The maximum amount of Loan that each University student can get is ksh.60,000 while the minimum amount is ksh.35,000.


Here is the list of Documents required

1. Copy of applicants national ID

2. Copies of parents national ID/ Death certificate if deceased

3. Copy of 2(two) guarantors national ID

3. Copy of Admission letter and KCSE result slip

4. Copy of applicants Bank card/ Bank ATM

5. Applicants passport



First of all you are required to visit the the HELB portal to register for an account. It’s recommended that you visit Cyberspace for assistance on Registration and application.




You will be given 2(two) copies of printed, dully filled loan application form. Take the form to relevant authorities and guarantors for filling, stamping and signing.


Sign your dully filled form and attach all the necessary documents as indicated in the check list on the last page of the loan application form.


Lastly you are required to present a single copy of the completed dully filled loan application form to your nearest Huduma center and retain a single copy for reference.
