Breaking news, Five people arrested by police after DP. Rutos’ motorcade stoning
Police have arrested five people in Busia County following the chaos that erupted during the visit of Vice President William Ruto on Saturday October 23.
It is following orders from Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi, who instructed the county commissioner of Busia to work closely with the police to identify the organizers and perpetrators of the violence.
Speaking during the launch of Trinity TV and Radio in Ol-Kalou, CS Matiangi ordered that those involved be arrested and arrested in the shortest possible time.
“The government will adopt zero tolerance to anyone disrupting legal political gatherings,” Matiangi said.
He said political leaders are free to move to any part of the country and urged law enforcement agencies to act with fairness and neutrality while managing political gatherings.
The DP, who set up tents in Busia County on Saturday to popularize his hustler movement, faced hostilities at the Corinda Junction along the Kisumu/Busia Highway. Angry mob burnt Holika and barricaded the road while pelting stones at DP’s caravan.
Several vehicles’ windows were damaged following the incident, which Mr. Ruto strongly condemned.
