Confirmed! Change of plan as TSC makes changes to requirements for P1 teachers to be deployed to secondary schools

The Teachers Service Commission has announced that it will consider primary school teachers with PhDs, masters and diplomas in deployment process.

TSC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Nancy Macharia says that as CBC approaches, more teachers will be needed in secondary schools hence the need for deployment.

Macharia says that the teachers who will be deployed will teach junior secondary schools. Junior secondary school will consist of grade 7 and 8.

Teachers who are employed by the commission with Bachelor of education degrees will teach senior secondary school.

Dr. Nancy Macharia has urged primary school teachers to go back to school and acquire masters and PhDs for them to be deployed.

The move by TSC has been criticized by many teachers terming it as unworkable. They argue that there are few primary school teachers with masters and PhDs hence Macharia should rethink about her decision.

The move will hit hard primary school teachers because they are supposed to meet the cost of TPD at the same time the cost of masters and PhDs
