According to a report by Daily Nation, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to receive an additional Sh15 billion for the 2022/23 financial year. The extra money is for salary hikes and recruitment of new teachers.

Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani is said to have allocated an additional $14.9 billion to TSC. This means the TSC budget has increased from 281.7 billion to 296.6 billion this year. According to a source in the National Assembly Education Committee, the extra money is to appease teachers who are very unhappy with Uhuru’s government. , This has prompted the government to do something before the elections.
