The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has reactivated profile updating portal after it was closed yesterday midnight. The exercise was initially scheduled to end on 30th November 2021. TSC increased the updating period by four more days till 4th December 2021. However due to low data expeeienced in TSC, it has decided to extend the period up to 31st December 2021.
However by close of business yesterday most teachers had not yet updated their profiles. Most of the affected teachers are the ECDE, BOM, unemployed and those in private schools.
The teachers say they only new about this exercise recently. This is after confusion surrounded the exercise where BOM, ECDE, unemployed and intern teachers were unsure on whether they should take part in the exercise.
Once the basic details are updated, documents and certificates proving educational qualification will need to be uploaded,” Macharia said.
Section 23 of the TSC Act also stipulates that the registration of teachers shall include qualifications and such other particulars as may be prescribed by the Commission from time to time in respect of which registration is granted.
Macharia said the updating of teachers’ profiles is a separate exercise from the biometric registration of teachers which will target all tutors under its payroll.
“This is a separate exercise from biometrics which was successfully piloted and will be launched at the national level in March next year. We will merge the two in the end,” said Macharia.
He said that the biometric registration is about getting the bio-data of the teachers, for example TSC will know if the teacher has gone back to school to get additional education.
“We will also know if there is something about the teacher that we do not know about. For example, in the register we do not know how many children a teacher has and this biometric process will inform us better, Macharia said.
Use the chance and update your profiles. Thank you.
