How to apply a Passport in kenya, requirements during submission and contact information

A passport can be applied, renewed or replaced  and  pay the passport fee online.

A form will be downloaded and printed at the end of the process.

You will have to  sign the form, add the documents or photos that you will be required before taking it for processing at immigration department.

Payment of the passport fee is done in different ways i.e. Mobile money transfer, use of credit or Debit cards and even online money bank transfer from local banks.

All applications takes a period of not less than 5 working days. You may wait a little bit longer in scenarios where more information is required. Failure to correct filling of the information required during application will also be anotjer reason for delays.

Apllication guidelines

i) Ensure you have an ecitizen account, if you don’t have one register at www.ecitizen.go.ke

ii)After successful login into the ecitizen account, check out of the immigration department icon open it and click on the passport application.

iii) carefully go through the form by reading on the instructions contained in the form and correctly fill.

iv) After filling it keenly and correctly select the mode of payment and pay the passport fee required.

v) After payment is done, download and print the application form and the application receipts

vi)  The printed application form is submitted personally to the immigration department offices, Kisumu, kisii, mombasa and Nyayo house-Nairobi

Mandatory requirements needed during submission

a) Original parents National ID cards and their copies

b) current size passport photos – 3 in number

d) original Birth certificate and a copy

e) The ecitizen pre-filled  passport application form and the three payment receipts.

f) Original Nationa ID card and a copy

g) For minors a consent letter is required.

h) Incase of renewal or replacement of old passport must be provided.

1. Diplomatic passport (48pages)-ksh 7550

2. Lost passport – ksh 12050

3. Mutilated passport – ksh 10050

4. East African passport – ksh 990

5. 64 pages ordinary “C” series – ksh 7550

6. 48 pages ordinary “B” series – ksh6050

7. 32 pages ordinary “A” series – ksh 4550
