*Joy to parents as CS Magoha issues strict directives regarding school fees as schools reopens next week*

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has revealed that the Ministry of Education has disbursed funds to schools ahead of opening of the third term school calendar on January 4, 2022.

Speaking during a ground breaking ceremony for the construction of two classrooms at the Mombasa secondary school for the physically handicapped as well as inspection of the construction of a new state-of-the-art Mama Ngina Girls National secondary school in Shanzu, Nyali sub county, Prof Magoha ordered that No Kenyan child should be out of school because of fees next year as the government will ensure money is availed to schools by January.

“So this parent does not want child to go to school ,let him keep the child at home. Because we have told heads that if it is a genuine case then let them take what the parent has brought to school and agree how the rest will be paid,”Magoha said

Magoha also ordered school heads to keep notorious students away from school, lest arson incidents are reported again.

“The renegade children who want to go home to rest, we shall allow them. If there is a child who doesn’t want to go to school and wants to go and rest with his parents, to take exams from home, let him go, rather than destroy the infrastructure, because its very ridiculous for a child because you want everyone to suffer therefore you burn the school and everyone suffers we are going to be extremely vigilant,” CS Magoha said.

This comes as 10,000 members of the Kenya Primary Schools Head Teachers Association (KEPSHA) convene for their annual conference on Tuesday to discuss the CBC curriculum, COVID-19 and learning as well as other agendas.

“We are only about one year on since about to see them in grade six, that is why this years conference is critical as it helps us take a scorecard look into success and gaps that the curriculum might have faced or face five years on,” Johnson Nzioka, the chairperson KEPSHA said on Monday.
