KNEC, its official now that all Examiners who marked KCSE 2020 examination receive their payments
The Kenya National Examinations Council, Knec, has finally payed full amount of examiners who marked the 2020 KCPE and KCSE their dues.
Knec had paid half of the amount in July 26th and promised to pay the rest sooner. The remaining amount was sent to the teachers today 19th August, via Mpesa.
The payment comes months of delay after the official release of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations was done in April and May respectively.
The Council attributes the lateness in payment of the Supervision dues to the hectic process of reconciling the contracted professionals’ data.
The Council has taken some time to retrieve the details from the attendance registers that were marked during the examinations administration.
According to Payment details released by the Council, Primary school head who will acted as Centre Managers for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education, KCPE, exams pocketed a daily subsistence allowance of Sh500, for a total of 4 days (including rehearsal day).
The exams were done between Monday March 22, 2021 to Wednesday March 24, 2021.
The Council again failed to factor payment for Deputy Head Teachers and Deputy Principals despite the fact that they were present during the examination period as assistant Centre Managers.
Also walking home empty handed are teachers handling science subjects who prepared and administered practicals during the KCSE examinations.
Having worked for a full month in a very strenuous exercise to ensure that the deadline that was set has been met, the teachers (examiners) who marked the 2020 KCSE Exams have the reasons to smile while going to the bank after the Kenya National Examination Council paid their allowances.
The KCSE marking exercises can be termed by examiners as the worst experience because of the pressure that the cabinet secretary of Education piled on them. Teachers were to start and finish marking within ten days.
