According to CS George Magoha, the Ministry of Education has approved 1,500 elementary schools to host junior secondary pupils.
This comes as the pioneer class of the Competency-based Curriculum prepares to take their final Grade six exams at the end of the year.
Magoha also stated that children enrolling in junior secondary will be housed in both day and boarding secondary schools in a statement released on Wednesday, May 11.
“The Ministry has picked 1,500 primary schools that will serve as junior secondary schools since they have adequate learning and teaching facilities as well as space to expand.” “In the future, some of these schools will be developed further to include a full secondary wing,” Magoha said.
The CS has reiterated that the implementation of CBC and the transition from primary to junior secondary and then senior secondary school is based on the recommendations of the Taskforce he appointed in 2019 and which completed its work and handed over its report to President Uhuru Kenyatta in February 2021.
