History of Maranda High school

The school started in the year 1926 under the help of Christian missionaries. The population of the school has kept on growing every year making the current total population to be more than 2000 students.

It is a National  boys boarding school which was initially as a provincial school. Maranda acquired this status after a constant and high performance in Kenya Certificate of Secondary school (KCSE)  examination in every year.

School location

The school is located  in Bondo constituency, Kapiyo Village, siaya county, Nyanza region. Its distance from Bondo town is 5000 metres (5km).

The Motto of the school is ‘Integrity in practice‘- which is an expression of their ideals and behaviour principles.

School vision

The motto is ‘To be a leading institution in providing holostic education that would inculcate a sense of integrity and responsibility in the learners.’

School form one selection criteria

Due to the 100 percent transition directive by the Ministry of Education, the candidates who scores highest marks in Kenya Certificate of Primary education (KCPE) are given the first priority to be selected to join the school. The minimum selected marks is 370.

School performance

Maranda high school is a home of academic excellence. It is an academic giant not only in siaya county but also in the entire nation.

In the year 2019 Maranda was top school in Nyanza region where it had a mean score of 8.9(B-). This  outstanding result made the school to take a total candidature of 618 directly to university to persue different courses under placement of KUCCPS.

This academic performance is much supported by the high discipline of the students and the commitment of the teachers towards teaching.
