The ministry of Education has put in place very strict rules on how to seek admissions in preferred schools . A parent or Guardian who is in need to get a different school other than the one which the student was selected MUST not go physically to the school he or she is interested but  must apply for the transfer online on NEMIS portal. This is because the ministry of Education always  recognize the learners  who only have admission letters which tally’s with those in the NEMIS portal.

The Ministry of Education has this circular having the information warning every principal of secondary schools in Kenya to avoid issuing the admission letters without the Ministry having the information.

The Ministry always directs the schools heads to place the requests of learners who needs the vacancy in that school through the NEMIS portal of the school. The result of replacement always depends on the Ministry  decision to accept the request or not. If the Ministry declines the request ,the student will always have to report to the school he or she was initially selected to.
