No Learning in all Public Universities starting from this Date, universities academic staff union declares

Learning is expected to be interrupted in all public universities.

This is after the Universities’ Academic Staff Union issued a seven-day strike notice.

Here are some of the public universities that are going to be affected. The Technical University of Mombasa, Maasai Mara University, Multimedia University, and Moi University.

The main cause of this strike is the failure of the council of all the public universities and constituent colleges to implement the 2017- 2021 collective bargaining agreement and any attempts to solve this issue by dialogue have also failed.

The planned strike is scheduled to start on Monday tomorrow 30th August 2021.

All the workers shall not resume work until the 2017-2021 collective bargaining agreement is fully implemented.

This is going to final years in several universities that are expected to finish their last semester in early September as they also welcome the new first year students.

This will not be realy good news to 2020 KCSE candidates who are eagerly waiting to report to their respective universities.

The government should do something to prevent learners from losing more time because of such strikes.
