Olympic Medalist winner succumbs, kenyans mourning after the death of the most prolific medalist

Sad news have hit the Field athletics family today following the death of Gilbert Soet Kwemoi.

He was a humble, talented and outstanding sportsman who had great future in his athletics career.

He  was born 3rd October 1997. He was an athlete who competed internationally for Kenya.

He competed in 1000 m and 1500 m respectively. His last victory was in the men’s 1500 m in the Youth Olympic Games held from 16 to 28 August, 2014 in Nanjing, east China’s Jiangsu Province.

Gilbert Kwemoi Soet had won in a time of 3.45.21 minutes followed by Mohammed ismael Ibrahim of Djibouti who finished with 3.47.06 and James Sugira of Rwanda finishing a distant third with 3.47.28 minutes

Gilbert Kwemoi also finished first and won Gold for Kenya at the African Youth Games which took place in Gaborone, Botswana’s capital city from 22 to 31 May 2014.

He was raised in Kapkateny village in Mt Elgon Constituency, Bungoma County and was a focused and hard working young man who would not let anything stop him from breaking world records kept by other Olympic medalists.

It is very  sad  traumatising that kenya and the athletic family lost him before he attained his full potential. We pray for God lay him in eternal peace till we meet again. May his SOUL REST IN PEACE.
