Requirements for a graduate teacher registration, how to check the registration status

The Teachers Assistance Commission Act of 2012 article 237 requires that any teacher qualified to become a recognized university teacher must be registered before he or she can start teaching.

Those teachers who have graduated from University and other institutions of higher learning should therefore follow the guidelines on the Teacher Services Commission and be registered before engaging in teaching.

It is a high criminal offense to teach in Kenyan schools before enrolling yourself with TSC . Therefore, anyone found violating this law will be prosecuted and arrested.

Mandatory minimum requirements for you to be able to apply for tsc number include the following ;

a) If you have a certificate in education you need a minimum of  C plain in KCSE examination.

b) If you have a degree or diploma  in education you must have a  C+ in KCSE examination

Adding to the above highlighted requirements, for any teacher to qualify to teach in high school, he or she must have  attained a mean grade of  a C+  his/her teaching subjects.

Without these mandatory  requirements and a MUST qualification your application will not eventually go through.

APPLICATION STEPS TO FOLLOW

a) Visit the Teachers’ Service Commission Website at http://www.teachersonline.tsc.go.ke.

b) Click On Teacher Registration and select Registration, you will be referred to a page that provides guidelines for the application process.

c) At the bottom of the page you will be directed to the link labeled CLICK HERE TO REGISTER AND PAY. The link will open a new page where you will be working according to the instructions provided on that page.

Also here you will be required to upload the following certified copies by TSC County Director of education officer.

1.Primary, secondary and University or college certificates.

2.  official University transcripts

3. A coloured passport photo

4. Bank slip receipt showing the payment made to Tsc.

The  amount paid is ksh 1055 for first time applicant and Ksh 2055 for the teacher applying for a replacement(duplicate) certificate which is non-refundable.

The  registration feed is deposited to any National Bank branch in kenya using the following tsc no bank account fee is deposited in the following bank accounts;National Bank of Kenya; account Number: 01001000905001

After successful application process, you can be able to monitor your registration status using the following procedure.

i) In your enter the URL www.tearchersonline. tsc.go.ke then click search, a window will open up as below ,

ii) click  on check registration status. A window will open up where you will be required to key in your personal identification number(ID NO) then click search.

iii) A  widow will open up showing the status of registration. If it is still under review it will be indicating in progress, if it is already confirmed your tsc number will be indicated and the status will change from in progress to registered.

 

The TSC certificate will be channeled to the postal address provided during registration and you collect it.
