School heads and games teachers to prepare learners for games activities this term, Here Official Calendar of Games activities in Term one, venues and Dates for the Academic year 2021

Both secondary, primary and tertiary games will be back as from this Month,

 

This is after the ministry of education and the Kenyan government had  suspended the  sporting activities for  one year.This decision came after the first case of covid19  was reported  in Kenya last year March 2020.

 

 

 

 

The calendar of games came to stop so that  the spread of the deadly virus of covid19. was controlled.

Most learners and even games teachers who enjoyed  participating in  games were not happy with the decision  the Ministry made. 

 

 

 

 

As the schools are reopening today,  all learners with different kind of talents have something to smile at. This is because an opportunity will be provided to them to showcase the different talents they posses after the release of the calendar of games activities.

 

 

 

The decision  to re-establish  the school games was made after the respective stakeholders met for four days in the mid month of May 2021.

During the meeting, more discussions about the  restart the games activities was made. 

 

 

 

The Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association(KSSSA)  together with officials  from the Ministry of Education also were in attendance. 

 

 

Peter Orero, the KSSSA chairman said that due to the talents that learners had and were never utilised , they decided to call for a meeting to discuss about the matter.

 

 

 

The meeting involved the respective stakeholders  pinned to sporting activities by the Ministry Of Education to find a solution  so that the sporting activities would be re -started in schools and colleges too.

 

 

 

The chairman also added that an agreement was made that co-curricular activities in colleges and schools  would begin this July.

 

 

 

 

 During the meeting, review of school games rules was also done and will be  implemented  upon the restart of  games.

In the recently released calendar of games, Term one  games  will be;

1. Handball

2. Athletics,

3. Basketball and

4. Cross country 

 

DATES AND VENUES FOR THE GAMES 

1. Nationals will be held at Kabsabet Boys and Girls in Nandi county as from 2/10/2021 to 10/10/2021

2. Regionals Games  – 18/9/2021,

3. County Games – 11/9/2021 

4. Sub-County Games – 21/08/2021

NB- Venues for the Sub-County, county and regionals will be decided by the respective sports and games stakeholders at every level.

 

 

 

In conclusion, for those teachers who loves the games activities, you are therefore urged to start preparing your teams well  and be ready for competitions.
